Weekly Notices Term 2 Week 5

PLEASE NOTE:

On Monday, a crane will be operating from the church car park. The builders are building the structure on the vacant section that will go over the deck area outside rooms 15 and 16. The structure will be lifted from the vacant section, over the carpark, swimming pool and into position.

This means a large part of the carpark will be closed for most of Monday. If you normally park in the carpark, please find another place for Monday.

THIS WEEK

Here's hoping for fine weather and our Cross Country will go ahead tomorrow (Monday). If you are able to help with transport it would be much appreciated as some parents who were able to help on Friday are unable to help on Monday due to work commitments.

Talofa, Malo ni, Ni sa bula, Malo e lelei and welcome,
We would like to invite you to attend a meeting for our Pasifika families held in room 15 on
Wednesday 23rd May, from 6-7pm.
We highly value our Pasifika community at St Mary’s School and would like to be able to share with
you our current goals and successes for our Pasifika students.  This meeting will also be an
opportunity to gain parent voice and feedback on how we can better meet the needs of our
Pasifika students and families. Please indicate below if you are able to attend.
Homework Club – Starting on Thursday 24th May
We are also excited to launch our ‘Homework Club’ this term.  The Homework Club is specifically

Presently we are reviewing our School Values. Staff, BOT and some children have had an
input into what these values might look like at St Mary’s. I would like some feedback from parents
too. I would like to meet interested parents next Thursday at 2.30pm in our staffroom with a
second opportunity again at 3.30pm. It would be great if you could come to one of these meetings
and give us some feedback.
Our school values put Christ at the Centre. The cross displays our primary values which are placed in correlation to the head, hands and feet of Jesus. These are: Wonder, Respect, Excellence and Courage. Our secondary values circulate around the outside of the cross, still connecting to our primary values: Curiosity, Creativity, Care, Integrity, Perseverance, Confidence, Passion, Resilience and Gratitude. Deliberately placed at the centre of the cross is the acronym J.O.Y. (Jesus, Others, Yourself) within a heart shaped koru. All values are promoted with consideration to Jesus, Others and Yourself. Underneath J.O.Y is Faith, which underpins all of our values.

Adaptation

This week we thought about turning a milk carton into a useful item. There were lots of amazing creations.

Lots of measuring (of capacity) this week for maths.  Lots of us had difficulty reading a scale but by the end of the week we were much better.

Monday, May 14, 2018

Can we please ensure ALL children have headphones at school. Even if you are using a school chrome book you are required to have your own set of head phones.

It is extremely frustrating reminding and asking children every day where their headphones are.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

Sunday, May 13, 2018

Please bring a 2 L Milk container this week for out adaptation project. If you have more than one, please bring them for children who might forget. The see through ones will be best as the plastic is a little softer.
